Corporate NPS: Plan Today, Secure Tomorrow
Retirement planning is no longer just about preparing for life after work. Today, families are looking for financial solutions that can support long-term goals, improve tax efficiency, and create financial stability for the years ahead. The National Pension System (NPS) offers a structured way to work towards these goals while building a retirement corpus over time.
For salaried professionals, Corporate NPS can make retirement planning easier by bringing retirement savings into the workplace. By allowing both employees and employers to contribute towards the NPS account, it creates a disciplined approach to long-term investing.
How Corporate NPS Can Help Build Your Retirement Corpus
One of the key Corporate NPS benefits is the additional contribution made by the employer. Along with the employee’s own contribution, the employer’s contribution can help increase the retirement corpus over the long term.
This can be particularly useful because retirement savings become part of a structured financial plan rather than something that needs to be managed separately.
Corporate NPS can also offer tax benefits through employer contributions under Section 80CCD(2), subject to applicable tax rules.
Under the old tax regime, eligible employer contributions of up to 10% of salary (Basic + DA) can qualify for deduction. Under the new tax regime, the applicable limit can go up to 14%. These provisions can help improve tax efficiency while simultaneously supporting long-term retirement savings.
Corporate NPS vs Individual NPS
The primary difference between an individual NPS account and Corporate NPS is the way contributions are made.
With an individual NPS account, the subscriber makes the contribution towards their retirement savings. With Corporate NPS, both the employee and employer can contribute, creating an additional source of retirement investment.
This shared contribution structure can help employees build their retirement corpus without relying entirely on their own monthly investments.
